BICEP, the Business for Innovative Climate and Energy Policy coalition of many major US businesses, responsible for about a half million jobs and a half trillion dollars in yearly revenues, released a Declaration entitled, “Tackling climate change is one of America’s greatest economic opportunities of the 21st century”, reports Joe Romm at Climate Progress. It says: “We cannot risk our kids’ futures on the false hope that the vast majority of scientists are wrong. But just as America rose to the great challenges of the past and came out stronger than ever, we have to confront this challenge, and we have to win… In order to make this happen, however, there must be a coordinated effort to combat climate change–with America taking the lead here at home. Leading is what we’ve always done. And by working together, regardless of politics, we’ll do it again.” The coalition calls on Congress to pass climate legislation by promoting clean energy, boosting efficiency and limiting carbon emissions. One CEO noted that “we are trying to affect positive change, but business can’t do it alone. We need the support of strong climate legislation.”
Join the swelling numbers of voters TELLING Congress they’ll vote for Clean Energy candidates here: http://signon.org/sign/we-are-the-clean-99?source=c.em.cp&r_by=487176 . This is an ongoing campaign (the next Congressional election is in 2 years!) so please, spread the word. It’s our way of telling Congress that a strong clean energy voting bloc is out there. This is how YOU can make a difference.
