Brazilian solar bids roll in at high volumes and low prices to supply solar power to the nation’s electric grid, resulting in nearly a gigawatt of new contracts reports Seth Zuckerman at ClimateCast. Less than 10% of the many proposals could be accepted, all at less than 9 cents per kilowatt-hour.
Here Comes The Sun: America’s Solar Boom – an energy analyst at Deutsche Bank came to a startling conclusion recently, reports Tim McDonnell at Mother Jones: By 2016, solar power will be as cheap or cheaper than electricity from the conventional grid in every state except three. That’s without any changes to existing policy.
